I think you may be referring to Tay Creggan which is the Year 9 campus of Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar.

Hi Lynne,
If you are still there… This could have been Stratherne, now Rossbourne School. This property is on Power street Hawthorn on the corner of Manningtree Road. If you go up Wattle road from Power street and turn left in to Vivian grove you’ll come to the back of this property. Built for John Patterson, it was originally called Bonooke until that name was transferred in 1923 to his new home just around the corner in Manningtree Road. At that time he gave the house to the Presbyterian church and they used it as Stratherne Girls school.

I wonder if this will reach you nearly 4 years after this post. The school you are referring to would have been Tintern Girls School which was on the east side of Glenferrie Road just south of Oxley road. The school was established in 1877. It moved to Ringwood in 1953. The site is now occupied by the Hawthorn library and Community centre.

Can anyone out there help me? About twenty years ago I was driving and ended up in a dead end street. It was Hawthorn and I presume that this gothic building was a private girls school, it looked like something out of Harry potter, can anyone help me with the address of this school or have the faintest idea of where I had been. I love photography these days, so I’d like to find my way back here to photograph same !!! Vague it’s a bugger getting older???
