I heard that Flemington racecourse was named because of Flemmings Bucher shop which was situated near the beginning of Ballarat road entrance at the time

Think “birdcage” was more likely named from Newmarket racecourse UK.

Red Baron won the Bagot in 1971. Sobar would have only been a yearling that summer.

red baron won the bagot handicap not sure which year, he also won 2 other races in the same year within 3 weeks Iam sure he beat sobar in one of those races.
Iam asking as red baron was owned by my father and his brothers and I am trying to find out as much about the horse so I can pass it on to my son
