If you are still there… This could have been Stratherne, now Rossbourne School. This property is on Power street Hawthorn on the corner of Manningtree Road. If you go up Wattle road from Power street and turn left in to Vivian grove you’ll come to the back of this property. Built for John Patterson, it was originally called Bonooke until that name was transferred in 1923 to his new home just around the corner in Manningtree Road. At that time he gave the house to the Presbyterian church and they used it as Stratherne Girls school.
Hawthorn Historical Society is only too happy to answer questions about Hawthorn and its people where we can. We have a website and a Facebook page.
